4 Men Arrested In Assault Of LC Police Officers

Four men were arrested in Las Cruces over the weekend for allegedly physically assaulting Las Cruces Police officers in front of a downtown nightclub.

Gerald Fernandez, 42, Shane Andrews, 38, and Russell Andrews, 35, all of Carlsbad, N.M., and 37-year-old Eleutero Galindo of Las Cruces have all been charged with assault on a peace officer and resisting or obstructing an officer.

Police were called to Graham’s Central Station, 505 S. Main St., just after 11:30 p.m. Dec. 12 on an unrelated call when nightclub security staff alerted officers in the parking lot to Russell Andrews who allegedly caused a disturbance inside the club and refused to leave.

Nightclub security escorted Russell Andrews outside where Las Cruces Police officers also suggested he leave the premises. Russell Andrews refused to leave the area and became physically combative with Galindo and officers.

Shane Andrews then allegedly grabbed one of the officers and threatened to strike him. Shane Andrews was subsequently restrained by officers and security staff.

All four men were transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $10,000 each.
