Incoming NMSU President Greeted Warmly

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) – New Mexico State University faculty and staff filled a campus building to greet incoming president Barbara Couture.

The new university president spent Monday meeting with top administrators and learning more about the school and Las Cruces community.

As Couture made her way through the crowd, guests waited eagerly to meet their new leader. Many offered information to Couture about their departments and programs.

NMSU Music Department director Ken Van Winkle says he was pleased to learn that Couture plays the piano.

Couture began work Jan. 1. She says she is happy to receive such a positive response from the university community.
