Burges Grad Shows Skills At NFL Combine
El Paso, Texas – John Skelton, a graduate of Burges High School who played quarterback at Fordham University, showed off his skills at the the NFL Scouting Combine over the weekend.
More than 300 college players are invited to the Combine annually to showcase their skills in front of NFL scouts, executives, and coaches ahead of April’s NFL Draft. Skelton was one of 19 quarterbacks invited. The Combine runs through Tuesday.
Skelton was a top performer in the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, broad jump, and 20-yard shuttle. See his results in those categories here.
Skelton, who is 6-foot-5 and 258 pounds, was named one of the top 12 senior quarterback prospects by NFL.com before the start of the 2009 season. He was named Honorable Mention Preseason All-American by the Consensus Draft Services for the second consecutive year. Read Skelton’s bio here.
UTEP’s Cornelius Brown is the only Miner to be invited to the NFL Combine this year. Brown had 31 solo tackles and ten assisted tackles in his senior season.
Brown and the other defensive backs will show their skills on Tuesday.
