Man Allegedly Threatens To Kill Woman, Confronts Police

Police arrested an elderly Westside man after he allegedly threatened to kill a woman outside a northeast business.

Maximilliano Lara, 72, of the 5100 block of N. Mesa, was charged with making a terroristic threat. He was booked into the county jail Downtown on a $5,000 bond.

According to police, Lara was at a pay phone outside Universal Communications Thursday afternoon. The business in located in the 4100 hundred block of Dyer in northeast El Paso.

Police said Lara asked the woman for change to use the pay phone. When the woman said she did not have any change, Lara allegedly became confrontational and told the victim he was going to kill her, officials said.

The woman was able to secure herself by staying inside the business and calling police. When police arrived, they found Lara to be confrontational and drunk, police officials added.
