Police: Man Uses BB Gun In Failed Robbery

Police arrested a teenager that allegedly tried to rob a parking lot attendant in Downtown El Paso at gunpoint.

Marco Antonio Valles, 19, of the 400 block of Mangrum, is charged with robbery. Police officers arrested him shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday in the 800 block of Santa Fe.

An investigation revealed that Valles approached the parking attendant for 2 Flags Parking Lot and demanded to be let into the office, according to police officials. Police said Valles was not let into the office and removed a handgun from his waist as he demanded the alleged victim’s cell phone.

When the attendant told Valles he had no cell phone, he was forced to empty his pockets, police officials said. Police said Valles then ran away with the attendant’s company-issued flashlight.

Officers responding to the robbery located Valles a short distance away. After the arrest, it was determined Valles’ gun was actually a BB gun. He was booked into the county jail Downtown on a $50,000 bond.
