Man Killed In East El Paso Motorcycle Wreck
EL PASO, Texas – An east El Paso motorcyclist becomes the city’s 3rd fatality in as many days, as he crashes into the back of a pick-up truck.
The collision happened shortly after early Thursday morning. Officers tell ABC-7 that 42-year old Octavio Nevarez was heading north on Joe Battle, near Pebble Hills, when he crashed into the back of a Toyota pickup.
According to police Nevarez struck the back of the pickup with such force it peeled off a section of the of the truck’s bed. Officials add that Nevarez landed 300 feet away from his motorcycle.
Emergency crews rushed Nevarez to University Medical Center, where he died a short time later. The driver and passenger of the truck were uninjured.
Police tell ABC-7 Nevarez was wearing a helmet, however speed is considered to be a factor in the wreck. A toxicology report is pending to see if alcohol was also a factor in the wreck.
Nevarez death is the third in as many days, and the second fatal motorcycle accident this week.
