Woman Dies In Transmountain Crash

El Paso Police revealed the name of the woman killed Friday evening in a vehicle accident on Transmountain.

45-year-old Lisa Jenson of Edgewood, New Mexico was a passenger in a 2005 Toyota Prius driven by 49-year-old Jason Jenson, also of Edgewood, New Mexico, according to police.

The two were headed eastbound on Transmountain at mile post 13, one mile west of Tom Mays Park, when traffic began to slow down.

At that point, Jason tried to make a U-turn on Transmountain, turning into the path of a westbound Ford F-150 truck driven by 43-year-old David Ibarra of El Paso.

Police said the F-150 slammed into the right front side of the Prius, causing the latter vehicle to spin back into the eastbound lanes of Transmountain, where it hit a 2004 Volkswagen headed eastbound.

56-year-old Linda Tullgren of El Paso was driving the Volkswagen at the time of the collision, police said.

Paramedics transported Jason and Lisa Jenson to University Medical Center where Lisa died. Jason was treated for non-life-threatening injuries to his head, arms, and chest.

Paramedics took Ibarra to Sierra Providence Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his injuries; Tullgren was not injured.

Ibarra and Tullgren were wearing seatbelts, according to police, but Jason and Lisa Jenson were not. Authorities did not consider speed or alcohol to be factors in this accident.

Police said Lisa’s death was the city’s 24th traffic fatality of 2010.
