3 Charged With Engaging In Organized Criminal Activity

El Paso Police have charged three teens with engaging in organized criminal activity in connection with an early Saturday morning incident.

According to police, the tree teens approached a home in the 300 block of Chelsea with the intent of assaulting a person at the residence.

At 5:26 a.m., officers at the scene who were conducting an investigation saw the teems pass by the home in their vehicle. The vehicle was stopped a short distance away and they were found to be in possession of items to be used in the assault, police said.

Adrian Castro, 18, of the 4800 block of Post; Dereck Julian Hignojos, 19, of the 5300 block of Timberwolf; and Andrew Gonzalez, 19 years old, of the 6000 block of Tejas were charged with engaging in organized criminal activity – assault. Hignojos was also charged with criminal mischief over $50 and under $500.

Assaults are up 1 percent in the El Paso through May 1 and assaults are down by 9 percent in the Central area of town.
