Cigar, Tobacco Shop Catches Fire In Las Cruces
A new cigar and tobacco business getting ready to open at 2285 E Lohman Avenue in Las Cruces was damaged by a fire late Tuesday night, according to the Las Cruces Fire Dept.
Four engine companies, two truck companies and a Battalion Chief from the Las Cruces Fire Department responded to the fire shortly after 10 p.m.
The first arriving unit reported heavy smoke showing from the roof and attic area. Firefighters encountered heat and zero visibility conditions inside the building due to the amount of smoke in the building. Firefighters found and extinguished a fire in a back storage room of the building.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by Las Cruces Fire Dept. investigators and a dollar amount in damage is still unknown. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
