Las Cruces Rats Adopted
Rats living at the Mesilla Valley Animal Services Center have found new homes. On Sunday, officials said they only had one of the rodents left.
At last count, nearly 240 of the albino rats had been adopted. Shelter officials said the rats will mainly be used as snake food.
Authorities discovered the rodents in a northeast Las Cruces home after the woman living there fell and called for help.
Shelter officials are gearing up for another load of rats on Monday. That’s when city Animal Control officers are supposed to catch about 150 more rats.
