Man Leads Deputies On High-Speed Chase

Traffic turned out to be a good thing for El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies.

They chased 32-year-old John Frederick Bryan after he allegedly kidnapped his ex-wife and her 13-year-old son.

Deputies said Bryan wanted to take the pair to Colorado, but got stuck in traffic on Montwood Drive.

According to authorities Bryan jumped out of his pickup and ran from deputies. They said they caught up with him in a matter of minutes.

Bryan was booked into the El Paso County Jail and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Aggravated Kidnapping among other offenses.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Release:

Late Saturday morning 05/22 at 11:45 am, Sheriff?s Deputies were dispatched the area of O’Leary and Marsha in reference to family violence and possible kidnapping. As Deputies were responding a Sheriff?s Deputy spotted a vehicle (black pick-up truck) matching the description given of the suspect vehicle. The Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the truck but the driver refused to stop. At that point, a pursuit ensued as the driver led Deputies on a chase through several residential areas (Tierras). The driver continued to evade driving on Zaragosa towards Joe Battle. The driver drove through the parking lot of the Home Depot and eventually came to a stop when he turned onto on Montwood & found heavy traffic congestion. The driver exited the truck & fled on foot running south towards the parking lot of the Chase bank. Deputies gave chase eventually catching up to the driver & taking him into custody without further incident. There was no traffic nor pedestrians in the residential areas during the pursuit which lasted about 7 minutes.The driver was identified as JOHN FREDRICK BRIAN (32) of Denver, Colorado who apparently yielded a knife at the victims during the incident. He was booked and remains at EPCDF under various charges.Further investigation revealed the BRIAN arrived to his ex-wifes residence in the 15000 block of Marsha El Paso County, TX early Saturday morning 05/22 where he then threatened & forced his ex-wife & her 13 year-old son into his truck as he was attempting to take them to Denver, Colorado.
