Authorities Investigating Several Arson Fires
The investigation continues into several cases of arson in which three homes were destroyed in far east El Paso.
The blazes broke out just before 6:30 a.m. Sunday on the 12000 block of Hidden Grove. According to fire officials, fourteen units arrived at the homes, which were still under construction.
A Border Patrol agent alerted fire officials about the homes going up in flames, and the agent told investigators he helped people escape from a nearby home.
Officials say no one was hurt but the homes sustained more than $600,000 in damage. These arson fires come about a week after two other unfinished homes were set on fire.
The two previous house fires happened within blocks from each other on Navajo Point and Gold Point in far east El Paso.
Investigators have said those fires were arson, but so far there is no word if they are related to the fires that broke out this past weekend.
Officials say a small white four-door sedan with tinted windows was seen driving away from the homes on Hidden Grove when the fire started.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 566-TIPS.
