Police ID 84-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed By Tractor Trailer

An 84-year-old woman was killed on Friday when she was struck by a tractor trailer in the 6100 block of Trowbridge.

El Paso Police said Jesus Sanchez-Navarro, of Juarez, was operating a tractor-trailer east on Clark St., making a southbound right turn onto Trowbridge, when at the same time, Maria Josephine Lopez, of the 6100 block of Tejas, was attempting to cross Trowbridge at the intersection of Clark from east to west on foot.

Police said Sanchez-Navarro had a green light on Clark St. and that Lopez was crossing in a cross walk. Lopez was struck and thrown under the tractors right rear tires. She died at the scene.

Speed and alcohol are not considered factors in this collision. This is the 34th traffic fatality of 2010.
