Las Cruces Man Reportedly Has Ties To Al-Qaida

A New Mexico man has been linked to the failed Christmas day airline bombing. He’s also just been added to a terrorism blacklist.

Government officials said Anwar Al-Awlaki was born in Las Cruces and is a key leader of Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula.

The Treasury Department placed the 39-year-old on its list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists.

That means any bank accounts found in the United States belonging to him are frozen.

Americans are forbidden from doing business with him and it bans him from traveling to the U.S.
