76-Year-Old Las Cruces Woman Killed Riding Scooter

Las Cruces Police are investigating a Friday morning traffic crash that killed a 76-year-old woman.

The woman, identified as Stacey Williams, was driving a 2009 Yamaha scooter-type motorcycle heading southbound on Solano Drive when she collided with a 1996 Nissan pickup that was in a northbound lane and turning west onto Madrid Avenue. The crash occurred at around 9:40 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6.

Williams, was not wearing a helmet, was transported to a Las Cruces hospital with severe head injuries. The 47-year-old driver of the pickup was not injured.

At this time no citations have been issued.
