Man Accused Of Attacking Police With Chair

A man allegedly assaulted his wife and then attacked police officers with a chair in northeast El Paso late Thursday evening, according to El Paso Police officials.

Officers arrived at the 3900 block of Leavell at 11:15 p.m. Thursday evening and observed Jorge Armendariz allegedly assaulting a woman inside the residence. Police said the woman screamed, ?leave me alone? in Spanish shortly before the officers entered the residence. Armendariz confronted the officers and then approached them with a wooden chair.

Armendariz was taken into custody and charged with assault, family violence, and aggravated assault on a peace officer. His bonds total $63,000.
