El Paso Sheriff’s Office Seeks Help In Homicide Investigation
Nearly a week after El Paso County’s first homicide of 2010 where Alejandro Castro Jr. was killed inside his Fabens home, El Paso County Sheriff?s officials are seeking help from the community for any information regarding this homicide.
At 9:50 p.m. on Aug. 24, sheriff’s deputies were seent to a residence in the 400 block of N.W. in Fabens in reference to a subject down with gunshot wounds. Deputies arrived moments later to find a Hispanic woman run out of the home towards deputies as she held on to her 4-year-old son in her arms. Deputies entered the home and found an unresponsive Castro Jr. on the floor with no signs of life.
Preliminary investigation indicates that just before 10 p.m. that night, Castro Jr. was at home with his wife and child at which time shots rang out. Castro Jr.’s wife, who was in the home but did not witness the incident, found her common-law husband on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. Castro Jr.’s wife then called 911 and waited for authorities to arrive. Castro Jr. died at the scene as a result of his wounds.
Sheriff’s detectives confirmed that the homicide is drug-related but it is unknown at this time if the incident is directly linked to the drug cartels or border violence in Mexico.
