Tricked-Out Halloween House Attracts Trick Or Treaters, Potential Clients

A man in central El Paso spent thousands of dollars decking out his home for Halloween. Now he’s hoping the hard work will pay off – literally.

Saul Arreola builds decorative displays in front of his home on Lebanon Avenue on some holidays. He said the scary set-up he handmade for Halloween took some major planning.

“I’ve had these ghouls in my head for the past couple months I guess,” he told ABC-7. “It’s all from scratch.”

Arreola conceived and carried out a full spooky scene consisting of animated skeletons playing electric guitars and other decorations. He installed LED lights inside the ghouls and even synchronized their movements.

“I think it’s pretty cool and I think it’s really haunted,” said one 8 year old trick-or-treater. But this is more than just a haunted house… it’s a chance for Arreola, who is a trained mechanical engineer currently between jobs, to turn a scary situation into a possible success story.

“You sit around and think about not having a job and those rejections you get,” he said. “This keeps me going. And with the reactions i’ve been getting and some inquiries, I may actually start a business and get this going.”

Arreola said he’s already received some requests from people in the community interested in showing their holiday spirit through decorative displays like his. Still, he said the main reason he spends so much time and effort on the displays is because he likes seeing their effect on the community. “The main thing is the reaction I get from the neighborhood. I enjoy getting a reaction from the kids,” he said.
