13-Year-Old Charged With Armed Robbery In Las Cruces
A 13-year-old Las Cruces boy was arrested Tuesday within minutes of committing an armed robbery at a local convenience store.
The 13-year-old boy is charged with one count of armed robbery.
Shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, Las Cruces Police were dispatched to a report of an armed robbery at the Pic Quik store at 2240 E. Missouri Ave. The clerk told officers that a boy had walked into the store with a shirt wrapped around his hand. The boy pulled back the shirt to reveal a handgun and told the clerk to give him all the money.
After taking a small amount of cash, the boy left the store on foot. A New Mexico State Police officer already in the area was alerted to the situation and quickly located the boy near a trash dumpster. The boy was taken into custody and positively identified as the suspect.
Police recovered a silver BB handgun the boy had in his possession.
The boy was given a Juvenile Class III Citation and turned over to the custody of the Dona Ana County Detention Center . He is being held without bond.
