The FBI is requesting the assistance of the public in locating William Trinity Mendoza, a man the FBI said is believed to be responsible for stealing personal checks and passing them off to local businesses in El Paso and Anthony, Texas while he was impersonating an FBI Agent.

In August and September of this year, Mendoza is believed to have gone to several businesses in El Paso and Anthony, Texas and ordered products, food and services and then pay for them utilizing a personal check, FBI officials said.

These businesses don’t normally accept personal checks however, believing Mendoza was an FBI Agent, made an exception. On each of these occasions, Mendoza was wearing clothing (baseball cap, wind breaker) that displayed the FBI insignia.

Mendoza has been positively identified by the victim of the stolen checks as well as business owners. FBI officials said Mendoza is believed to be traveling with Yvette Losoya and her two 18 month old children. They are believed to be driving a white/light grey 2010 Ford Edge, with Texas License Plates TWV732.

This case is being worked by the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force, which includes the El Paso Police Department and El Paso Sheriff’s Department. The FBI has a federal arrest warrant for impersonating an FBI agent and the El Paso and Anthony Police Departments have warrants for the illegal use of a Financial Instrument. If anyone has information regarding the whereabouts of Mendoza or Losoya, please call the FBI at 915-832-5000.
