Update: Multiple Weekend Stabbings Reported

Two stabbings that occurred within an hour of each other Saturday afternoon are not related, the El Paso Police Department said.

The first stabbing occurred just before 4 p.m. Saturday in 500 block of South Mesa Street. Police said the 43-year-old victim was transported to University Medical Center. His condition has not been released.

Officers said when they arrived at the scene, the victim had walked away. Police said the man was found at Third Avenue and Stanton Street where emergency crews began treating the victim for multiple stab wounds.

According to authorities, the victim was uncooperative and refused to speak with officers or medical personnel about the stabbing.

At this time, no arrests have been made and the investigation will continue, police said.

The second stabbing occurred around 4:30 p.m. in the 2900 block of East San Antonio Avenue. Police said the incident was a possible gang fight.

The incidents are approximately four to five miles apart.
