Trial Of Mother Accused Of Murder Continues
Tuesday, jurors heard more disturbing details in the capital murder case against a former Fort Bliss soldier.
Monea Tyson, 27, is accused of killing her own son, 22-month-old Jayceon Tyson.
Local pediatrician, Dr. Roberto Canales described the condition the baby’s body was in when he first treated him. He said the baby was bruised and not breathing on his own.
Dr. Canales said after seeing all the bruises, he believed child abuse was the number one reason that caused them.
He also said the child had two fractured clavicle bones near his throat, and a black eye.
The defense argued Dr. Canales didn’t ask about any pre-existing medical conditions and that Jayceon was anemic and that the fractured clavicle may have been something Jayceon was born with.
Dr. Canales said many tests were ordered, but no other diseases were found.
He said the boy was brain dead by the time he treated him.
He said, “the brain can’t take many hits.”
If convicted, Tyson faces life in prison.
The trial will continue Wednesday morning.
