UTEP’s Floyd Asks Fans To Sell Out Game Against NMSU

Editor’s Note: The following is a letter UTEP men’s basketball coach Tim Floyd has released addressing fans. Floyd talks about the season-opening sellout and the upcoming home game against New Mexico State University.

“Friday, Nov. 12 was a very special day for the city of El Paso and for me personally. It was overwhelming, to say the least, the way the community banded together to celebrate the start of the 2011-12 UTEP basketball season. The atmosphere in the Haskins Center for Pacific game was absolutely electric. Thank you so much for playing your part in creating such an awesome environment!

“While the game didn’t produce the outcome everyone hoped for, I can promise you that we are working very hard and we WILL get better. So please stick with us! Your faith will be rewarded.

“On Tuesday (Nov. 23), your Miners will be taking on I-10 rival New Mexico State at 7:05 p.m. UTEP and NMSU have played so many thrilling games over the years, it’s hard to believe that a Miner-Aggie game in the Haskins Center hasn’t been sold out since 2004. We’d like to put an end to the six-year drought and fill the arena to capacity on Tuesday night! This is a huge game for our team against the defending WAC champion Aggies, who participated in last year’s NCAA Tournament.

“Get your tickets now and join me in the Haskins Center on Tuesday when the Aggies come to town!

“Go Miners!”
