Teacher Among 6 Arrested In Drug Sting

Six people, including a middle school teacher, were arrested over the weekend by El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies after receiving a tip on narcotic activity at a home in Central El Paso.

After receiving the tip, the Strike Team Deputies set up surveillance of the house in the 2900 block of Lebanon where the team observed activity consistent with drug sales occurring at the home, sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies said they observed multiple vehicles arriving at the residence where occupants would approach the home and within a matter of minutes the individuals would return to their vehicles and leave.

As a result of the activity observed, Strike Deputies obtained a search warrant for the residence and found drug paraphernalia and an additional 6.6 ounces of marijuana inside the residence, according to sheriff’s officials. Sheriff’s officials said one of the six arrested was a middle school teacher.

Stephen Sommerville II works at Nolan Richardson Middle School and also is assistant baseball coach at Andress High School andhead Junior Varsity coach at Andress High.

Arrested were:

STEPHEN SOMMERVILLE II (36) of El Paso. Charged with Possession of marijuana under 2 ounces. $300 BOND.

JOSE GURROLA JR. (29) of the 2900 block of Lebanon El Paso. Charged with Possession of Marijuana over 4 ounces Under 5 pounds. $1,500 BOND.

ZOILO SOTO (33) of El Paso. Charged with Possession of marijuana under 2 ounces. $300 BOND.

ARTURO MEDINA (26) of El Paso. Charged with Possession of marijuana under 2 ounces. $300 BOND.

DAVID MEDINA (22) of El Paso. Charged withPossession of marijuana under 2 ounces. $300 BOND.

DANIEL ESPARZA (19) of El Paso. Charged with Possession of marijuana under 2 ounces. $300 BOND.
