Mexican Police Enter US While Transporting Shooting Victim

According to officials with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, a Mexican ambulance brought an injured person to the Bridge of the Americas at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

They said Mexican police followed the ambulance and ended up “inadvertently” on the U.S. side of the border.

No arrests were made and CBP processed the police without incident, officials said.

According to officials with the El Paso Police Department, a 17-year-old male was shot in Juarez and brought to the bridge. He was then taken to University Medical Center for surgery.

Our news partners at Channel 44 in Juarez said there was a shootout in Juarez sometime after midnight.

They said one person was killed and the 17-year-old, an El Pasoan, was injured.

Media reports stated federal police and their ambulance responded to the attack and transported the 17-year-old to the bridge.
