Security System Helps Authorities Find Stolen Car
An Arizona man was arrested on Wednesday after, police said, he stole a car in central El Paso.
Sean Patrick Murphy, 23, of Phoenix was arrested and charged with theft over $20,000.
Investigators said a Chevy Malibu was stolen from the drive way of a home at about 10:05 a.m. after it had been left running with the keys inside.
As the department’s Auto Theft Task Force began working the investigation, officials said they were advised by security service OnStar that the vehicle was in Anthony, Texas, at the Flying J parking lot.
About 45 minutes later, police investigators, along with El Paso County sheriff’s deputies, found the car and Murphy.
According to authorities, the investigation revealed Murphy had taken the vehicle.
He was booked into the El Paso County Jail with bond set at $40,000.
