Rally Held To Support Domestic Health Benefits

Throughout the city’s heated benefits debate, Tom Brown has been the face behind the rally to take away benefits from gay and unwed partners of city employees. But now his opponents are hoping their faces and their voices get just as much exposure. Tuesday night, the group organized a rally in front of Brown’s church, Word of Life. “I think it’s important that they see our faces too and and they see the other of the story,” said radio talk show host, Lisa Degliantoni. “I want visible access to the people that are going to be our allies.” Degliantoni was part of a group of about 25 people who quietly held up signs in support of a gay lifestyle. “This is a free country, everybody is free to protest,” said Brown, “I do think it is disrespectful for people to protest at a church.” Brown said the group already had its chance to make their stance now, and that their efforts now are too late. “The election is already over,” Brown said. “Let’s all move on.”
