Downtown Tree Lighting Ceremony Is Saturday; Watch Testing Of The Lights

The city is getting ready for the big christmas tree lighting ceremony on Saturday.

Crews flipped the switch on hundreds of lights in the plaza during “Good Morning El Paso” Friday morning.

A “75” tops the living tree this year as this is the 75th anniversary of the tree lighting ceremony in San Jacinto Plaza.

ABC-7’s Stephanie Valle had a chance to see the plaza from 65 feet up in a cherry picker. Click to view the video.

The tree lighting ceremony begins at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. It will be hosted by ABC-7 anchors Estela Casas and Rick Cabrera. The parade begins at 5:55 p.m., right after the tree lighting.

If you can’t make it, you can catch all the action on ABC-7, beginning at 4:30 p.m. It also will be streamed live on kvia.com.
