Dona Ana Sheriff’s Office Seeks Man Wanted In Child Abuse

The Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a Dona Ana County man wanted for third degree child abuse and misdemeanor battery against a household member and a separate warrant for aggravated battery against a household member, issued on October 21, 2008.

A warrant was issued on Monday charging Clinton Simpson, 28, of the 6000 block of Prairie Lane, Las Cruces, with one third degree count of Child Abuse and one misdemeanor count of Battery Against a Household Member.

Bond was set at $15,000 cash by Magistrate Judge Conrad Perea.

The victim, Clinton’s wife, age 27, along with their 5 month old daughter, were transported to Memorial Medical Center last night after Clinton allegedly kicked her repeatedly and punched the victim while the victim was holding their daughter in her arms.

The child sustained a minor injury to her head when the victim was forced to the ground, while still holding the child in her arms and kicked repeatedly by Clinton, while the victim attempted to shield her daughter.

Clinton is described as being 6 feet, 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 260 pounds with dark brown hair and brown eyes.

A separate warrant, which is still outstanding, was issued for Clinton’s arrest on October 21, 2008, charging Clinton with one misdemeanor count of Aggravated Battery against a Household Member, against the same Victim. Bond was set at $1,000.00.

According to the victim, Clinton does own a handgun and may be in possession and armed with that handgun.

Anyone with any information concerning the whereabouts of Clinton is asked to call Domestic Violence Investigator Bo Nevarez at 575.525.8806.

All calls will remain anonymous.
