Woman Charged With DWI After Alleged Hit-And-Run

A 37-year-old Northeast woman has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a child under 15 years old after she was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run.

At about 11:53 p.m. Sunday, an officer assigned to the Northeast Regional Command responded to a hit and run crash late Sunday night. The officer learned that a Red Nissan Pathfinder had been involved in the crash and left the area prior to the officer making it to the scene.

Later that night the vehicle was located parked at 8101 Dyer. The driver, Aqueda Valenzuela, was located inside the business with a small child.

According to police, the officer?s investigation showed that Valenzuela was the driver of the Nissan Pathfinder and that she was believed to be intoxicated. As a result, Valenzuela was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated with the felony DWI. Valenzuela was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with a bond of $1500.

The El Paso Police Department is reminding the public that the ?Arrive Alive? focus for the month of December is reducing DWI?s. Virtually every law enforcement agency in the area is out looking for impaired drivers and enforcing DWI laws. Chief Greg Allen would also like to remind the public that there is a zero tolerance policy in effect when officers locate and stop drunk or impaired drivers.
