Notre Dame QB Rees Eager For Shot During Sun Bowl

Notre Dame freshman quarterback Tommy Rees is looking toward the Sun Bowl as an opportunity of a lifetime.

With Dayne Crist rehabbing from surgery on a ruptured patella tendon in his left knee, Rees figures the Dec. 31 game against Miami gives him a chance to impress the coaches. He wants them thinking about him as a possible starter next year even if Crist comes back fully healthy.

Rees said Tuesday that the team has come to trust him.

Rees played in three games after Crist was injured in the Oct. 30 loss to Tulsa – all wins.
