Persian Gulf War: 20 Years Later

On Jan. 16, 1991, Operation Desert Shield became Operation Desert Storm and started the mission to drive Iraqi forces out of Kuwait.

Fort Bliss had a role in the Persian Gulf War with the deployment of Patriot Missile batteries in gulf countries. Patriot Missiles were used to intercept inbound SCUD missiles fired by Iraq.
