Las Cruces Dealing With Gas Pressure Issues; Rolling Electrical Blackouts Possible

El Paso Electric is asking customers in Dona Ana County to conserve electricity today to help avoid rolling blackouts during high peak 5:30 p.m.-10 p.m., a City of Las Cruces spokesman said.

EPE will spend today assessing their power generation and transmission capabilities and will decide later this afternoon whether they will request that government agencies and schools remain closed tomorrow.

An announcement is anticipated between 4 and 5 p.m. today. Also, the City Utilities Department is reporting low gas pressure throughout the city due to heavy demand and are requesting customers to conserve. If you lose service in Las Cruces, call 526-0500.

Las Cruces city offices, municipal court and the Juvenile Citation Program remain closed today. There will be no Roadrunner Transit or trash service today.
