1 Person Transported To Hospital After Fight During Music Festival

While thousands of music lovers enjoyed the second day of the Chamizal Blues and Latin Jazz Festival, a fight broke out that led to one person going to the hospital.

A car club was having a fundraiser during the music festival at the Chamizal National Memorial Park when a fight broke out, according to El Paso Police Dept. Sgt. Louis Johnson.

Around eight police officers were called to the scene shortly after the incident occurred.

Although two men were handcuffed, only one person was arrested. Johnson said the man was arrested for traffic warrants. Johnson added that the person that was assaulted declined to press charges.

One man, who was alert and talking, was transported to the hospital.

Johnson said the police officers used the least amount of force possible to handle the situation. Police separated the involved parties and asked them to leave.

Johnson said he he was thankful the officers handled the incident the way they did because considering the circumstances things could have been worse.
