Ruidoso Downs Wildfire 95% Contained

The wildfire burning near Ruidoso Downs, dubbed the ‘White Fire,’ is now 95% contained, according to Ruidoso Tourism officials.

The 10,341-acre fire, which began last Sunday, destroyed five houses and seven outbuildings in the resort town. Other buildings were damaged.

All evacuations were lifted earlier this week.

A separate 2,700-acre fire in the Sevilleta area of central New Mexico was declared fully contained Friday night. No structures were damaged in that blaze, according to officials.
