El Paso Police Officer Fired For Alleged Marijuana Possession

El Paso Police Chief Greg Allen fired eight-year veteran of the force, Robert Barragan, on Monday morning after an investigation into Barragan’s alleged possession of marijuana, according to police officials.

Police officials said the decision to fire Barragan was made after an internal administrative and separate criminal investigation was conducted into the possession of illegal narcotics marijuana by Barragan.

Police said a criminal investigation has shown that Barragan was in possession of a small amount of marijuana weighing 2 grams. Barragan was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on March 29, 2011 for possession of under 2 ounces of marijuana.
