El Paso Police: Property Crimes Continue To Decrease Through April, Homicides Up

The City of El Paso continues to see decreases in property crimes through the first quarter of 2011, according to stats released by the El Paso Police Department.

The numbers listed below are thought April 2, 2011 and are compared to this same time period in 2010 and are as follows:

Offense Percentage Decrease Comparison Data Burglary 7 percent decrease (418 – 2011 & 448 – 2010) Larceny 14 percent decrease (2,905-2011 & 3361-2010) Vehicular Theft 26 percent decrease (346 – 2011 & 468 – 2010) Burg Vehicular 7 percent decrease (615 – 2011 & 659 – 2010) Other Categories With Decreases Through April 11, 2011 Robberies 7 percent decrease (99 – 2011 & 107 – 2010) Assaults 5 percent decrease (2,663-2011 & 2,792-2010)

Through April 2, 2011 there have been 12 homicides compared to one during this same time period in 2010
