6 Teens Among 8 Arrested In Drug Sting Near West Side High School

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Strike Team in conjunction with El Paso Independent School District’s police department have arrested six teens and two men in their 20s in a drug sting.

The two law enforcement agencies launched an investigation in early February in reference to complaints about an ongoing narcotic activity at area schools, mostly consisting of ecstasy pills. The primary school of concern was Franklin High School, according to sheriff’s officials.

A drug sting operation commenced a short time later where undercover Strike Team Deputies attempted to make narcotic purchases from dealers in the area that may include students from the district.

On Friday, February 25, 2011, undercover deputies approached a crowd of teens in a nearby parking lot and were directed to a person where ecstasy pills could be sold to them, sheriff’s officials said.
