Submit Questions To Socorro ISD Superintendent For Sunday TV Appearance

Dr. Xavier De La Torre will, superintendent for the Socorro Independent School District, will be a guest on Good Morning El Paso at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

De La Torre will talk about Socorro ISD’s upcoming bond election in May in which district officials are asking voters to approve $297.4 million to pay for several new schools and facility upgrades.

If approved, Bond 2011 will add $.030 per $100 valuation in 2011-12, or less than $2.25 per month on a $100,000 home with a homestead exemption, to the current tax rate. The maximum impact will be $.066 per $100 valuation. Senior citizen property taxes are frozen and would not be affected.
