El Paso Police have identified the 57-year-old woman killed Sunday morning as Romelia Nunez De Herrera of Socorro, Texas.

The crash occurred on a few minutes before 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 17, at the intersection of North Americas and Alameda.

Police said investigators believe the 1999 Ford F150 driven by 69-year-old Rafael Ramos disregarded a red traffic signal and entered the intersection.

The 1999 Ford F150 then collided with a 2002 Ford F150 that was westbound on Alameda driven by 61-year-old Geronimo Herrera. Inside the 2002 Ford F150 were front seat passenger 35-year-old Jerry Herrera and rear seat passenger Nunez De Herrera.

As a result of the crash, Nunez De Herrera was ejected from the truck and died at the scene. Police believe that failure to stop for the red light as well as not using a seat belt are considered to be factors in this fatal crash. At this time no charges have been filed in this case.

This is the 21st traffic related death for 2011 as compared to 21 at this time in 2010
