El Paso Police ID Officer Involved In Shooting, Suspect
El Paso police officials have identified the officer involved in shooting a man on Friday and also have identified the man who was shot.
According to police, Raul De La Rosa, 29, of the 3800 block of Harrison, was driving a Ford Expedition when he allegedly struck Officer Robert Thomas, who was investigating a family disturbance in the 3800 block of Harrison.
The officer sustained abrasions to the left side of his neck, waist, his left elbow, left side ribs and bruising to his right toe, according to police. During the incident, the officer discharged his firearm, striking De La Rosa in the upper right arm. Both men were treated at local hospitals. De La Rosa was booked Sunday into the El Paso County Jail on a bond of $25,000.
Thomas is a three year veteran of the police force.
