FIELD TRIP TO MURDER SCENE
More than 300 students from Ysleta Pre-K took a field trip to the Poki Roni Ranch.
However, what hey did not know was they were visiting a murder scene.
“If you excuse me i have to get work done ,” said co-owner of Poki Roni Ranch, Judy Wheatley.
Wheatley had little to say after she was asked why a she operated a business where a murder suspect lives.
Cesar Rodriguez: Is it something unusual to have kids here at a site of an alleged murder?
Judy Wheatley: No!
Cesar Rodriguez: You think it’s ok for kids to be here?
Judy Wheatley: It’s an area for parties.
Travis Kirchner is scheduled to stand trial next month in the death of his mother, Patricia Kirchner. the 81-year-old woman was found dead in a garage on this property after Kirchner allegedly took her life, then backed out of a suicide pact.
Ysleta Independent School Disitrict made a statement about the field trip.
” YISD’s first priority is always the safety and well-being of its students,” Spokeswoman, Patricia Ayala said. “There was a lot of educational value in today’s field trip. There were many adult chaperones, including administrators, teachers and parents to ensure the students were safe at all times.”
ABC-7 called Kirchner’s lawyer and left a message. The murder trial is set for May 10th.
