El Paso Food And Safety Inspector Arrested For Allegedly Soliciting Bribe
El Paso Police have arrested a city food and safety inspector and charged him with gift to public servant by person subject to his jurisdiction for allegedly asking for $500 from a business owner.
According to El Paso Police, Carlos Padilla, a city inspector, met with a business owner April 21 and allegedly asked for $500 from the business owner in exchange for promising to the owner his business would pass inspection. The business is located in the 3200 block of Piedras.
Padilla, who makes $31,916 a year, has been employed in and for the Department of Public Health for eight years.
Padilla was booked into the El Paso County Jail on the charge of Gift to Public Servant by Person Subject to His Jurisdiction and a bond of $750. Gift to public servant by person subject to his jurisdiction is a Class A Misdemeanor.
