Multi-Vehicle Crash Sends Several To El Paso Hospitals

A crash Saturday afternoon has sent several people, including four children to El Paso hospitals.

According to El Paso police officers, three cars were involved in a crash in the 8800 block of Railroad Drive just before 1 p.m.

Investigators said the the driver of a red Dodge Neon was speeding in the left lane of Railroad Drive when the car slammed into a green Mitsubishi Montero that was in the left turn lane of the road right in front of Nations Tobin Park.

Authorities said the force of the crash sent both vehicles into a spin, the driver of the Neon then crashed into a gray Ford Taurus that was in the far right lane of the street. Officials said all three vehicles were traveling in the same direction.

Officers said two children in the SUV were ejected, the driver and two other children were not. Police said the ages of the children range from about 8-years-old to possibly one-year-old.

The four children and drivers of the Montero and Neon were taken to local hospitals. Authorities said the driver of the Taurus was the only one with minor injuries.

Kenneth Gonzalez was just getting out of baseball practice when the crash happened. He said he saw two girls in the street screaming and one girl by a tree.

“I saw one little girl by a tree with blood on her face and her arm wrapped with a blanket,” he said.

Authorities have not released the conditions or names of those involved. Investigators are still looking into if the children were wearing seat belts.
