Woman Mauled To Death By Pitbulls In Truth Or Consequences, NM

A 48-year-old woman was mauled to death on Sunday afternoon in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, according to the town’s police chief.

At about 4:25 p.m. Sunday, T or C police officer James Harrington responded to a call about a woman being attacked by four pitbulls. He tried to get them away from the woman, Margaret Saucedo, when one dog attacked him. He managed to shoot the dog, which then ran away.

Harrington then chased the others away and began rendering first aid. Saucedo was taken to Sierra Vista Hospital in T or C where she passed away around 8 p.m.

The dogs’ owner, John Hardiman, was away from his home when the dogs escaped their enclosure, according to T or C police chief Patrick Gallagher.

The Sierra County District Attorney and New Mexico State Police are still investigating the incident. The three surviving dogs are in the custody of T or C Animal Control.
