Menzies Add Weary to NMSU Basketball Roster
LAS CRUCES, N.M. (April 26)-New Mexico State men?s basketball head coach Marvin Menzies has signed Eric Weary Jr. to a National Letter of Intent. Weary is a 6-5 guard from New Orleans , La.
?Eric is the first recruit to sign in the period, and we?re very happy to get his signature after his official visit went really well,? Menzies said. ?We felt like it was a perfect fit for both sides. Eric led New Orleans in scoring, and he has a knack from putting the ball in the basket, and that?s always something to look for in a recruit. Eric also brings a dynamic work ethic and character to the Aggie family.?
Weary joins the Aggies this fall from Warren Easton Charter High School in New Orleans , La. As a senior, he averaged 25.3 points per game for the Eagles, a mark that led the New Orleans metro area. In 2010-11, Weary was named to the all-state honorable mention team, 10-4A All-District team and New Orleans Times-Picayune All-Metro team after pacing the Eagles to a fourth-place finish in the district with a 16-17 record.
In his junior campaign, Weary averaged 14.1 points per game and earned all-district honors following the Eagles? fourth-place showing in district with a 16-16 record. In 2011, Weary won the all-star slam dunk contest in 2011.
