First Alert In Effect For Strong Winds Saturday

The ABC-7 StormTRACK Weather Team has issued a First Alert for Saturday due to strong winds along with blowing dust.

Gusts of around 45 mph are expected to between 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., though StormTRACK Meteorologist Jennifer Myers expects the wind to gradually weaken after 8 p.m. and become light after midnight.

A strong upper-level trough is swinging through the western half of the country, producing strong southwesterly winds.

This usually means strong winds with blowing dust and sand for Southern New Mexico and Far West Texas.
