Fort Bliss Soldier, 3 Others Arrested In Prostitution Sting

Officers with the El Paso Police Department’s vice unit conducting an undercover operation Friday evening arrested two men — including a Fort Bliss soldier — and two women on suspicion of prostitution in Northeast El Paso.

Police said 29-year-old Army Sgt. Daryl Lamar Ervin, of the 600 block of White Cliffs Drive, was arrested on the 4100 block of Dyer Street after he agreed to hire an undercover police officer for sex. Fort Bliss spokesman Dieter Jester confirmed that Ervin is a Fort Bliss soldier.

Johnny Rangel, 43, of the 3700 block of Keltner Avenue, was arrested on the 5800 block of Dyer. Police said Rangel agreed to hire an undercover officer for sex.

Police said Demetra Holland, 36, and Krystina McDermott, 22, agreed to be hired for sex by undercover officers.

Holland, of the 8700 block of Mercury, was arrested on the 3500 block of Sunrise Avenue.

Police said McDermott, who is from Saugas, Mass., tried to flee before being arrested on the 8300 block Dyer. She was arrested on suspicion of prostitution and evading arrest or detention.

All were booked into the El Paso County Jail. Bond for Ervin, Rangel and Holland was set at $300. McDermott was held on at $600 bond.
