Man Escapes Police While at Hospital
The El Paso Police Department is currently looking for a man who escaped police custody while being treated at Sierra Medical Center located at 1600 Medical Center in central El Paso.
Officers had arrested 29 year old Ashley Justus Gelo after he was involved in an altercation that occurred in the 1100 block of Cotton. In that incident police believe Gelo had broken into an apartment with the intent to commit an assault.
Gelo was being treated for a head injury he sustained in the altercation. While at the hospital Gelo was able to escape from the officer and fled on foot.
At this time officers have obtained warrants for Gelo that include a charge of Burglary of Habitation, Interference with a 911 Call and Escape. Police are also aware that Gelo was already wanted for a Motion to Revoke Probation warrant that was filed back in May of this year. Police records indicate Gelo resides in either the 2100 block of Murchison or the 800 block of Myrtle.
