Truck Crashes Into Lower Valley Home

Irma Lopez says she’s used to crashes near her home, but Saturday morning, a truck plowed straight into it.

The crash happened on the 400 block of Fresno in El Paso’s lower valley.

Lopez told ABC-7 it was around 12:30 when she heard the big bang. The truck hit the left side of her home, damaging the kitchen.

Police on the scene said the man behind the wheel took off running but was found a short time later, hiding in a ditch.

Lopez said the area has seen its share of crashes, one of them deadly.

“We believe it’s due to there not being enough lighting off of Yarbrough,” she said. “There’s about a half-mile stretch that’s really, really dark.”

No one was injured in Saturday’s crash.

Police say the driver of the truck was arrested. Investigators have not said whether alcohol is suspected.
